Pain and associated thoughts
There’s probably not a day that passes in which I don’t wake up in some type of pain. This is nothing new to me, so you can hold all of the “old age” jokes.
I’ve suffered from back pain for most of my life. It comes and it goes, like most things do.
Currently, my right elbow and left shoulder are troublesome. The elbow hurts especially, for some reason. My left calf is also hurting, but I’m attributing that more to the fact that I’ve started running again….two miles on Tuesday and Wednesday, a mile on Thursday, Three miles last night and two this morning.
Actually, I’m thinking about running a half marathon. I asked my friend Sis if she wanted to run it with me, and she jumped at the chance. If I can do that, then I may actually try for the full deal. We’ll see.
A marathon is one of those things that I’ve always thought would be nice to get around to.
The good thing about running is that it allows me to think. I don’t run with headphones, as I find it a bothersome distraction. I just like the sound of my regular breathing, heart pumping, and feet hitting the pavement.
Lifting weights, on the other hand, I find must be accompanied by loud, aggressive music.
Anyway, back to running. I get a lot of things sorted out when I run, a lot of ideas coalesce into something tangible, and if I’m lucky, usable. Maybe pain is the price to pay for free thought?
Who knows. At least I can run when I want to.
Some people don’t have that option.
