Marching orders!

RHINELAND is  available on dvd 2/1/2011. It seems impossible to me that the movie is finally out. The struggle to get this thing done was a battle of titanic proportions. We fought against the elements, the budget constraints, and at times, each other. We shot for forty-two days over the course of three years. Literally hundreds of people worked on the project.

At one time, the late George Hickenlooper was attached as executive producer. He became acquainted with the project when the kind folks at Cinema St. Louis sent him a dvd after it screened in the 2007 Filmmaker’s Showcase. He was floored by the film, captivated by the raw energy in it.

George pushed me to submit it to Sundance, worked with me going over the cut with a fine-tooth comb, rightfully suggested we go back out and shoot more footage, re-shoot key scenes. All this we did, back in late 2007, early 2008. Sundance passed on it, and I shrugged my shoulders and kept on going.

I think RHINELAND stands out as a low-budget epic, a one-of-a-kind experience that few others would (or could) dare to attempt. To the hardy souls who toughed it out through the mud, the blood, and the cold (My God, it was cold!) my hat is off to you.   For everyone else, hey! The movie is out tomorrow! Go buy it already!
